Since joining Thomson Reuters Research & Development team in 2015, Bob Arens has been involved with efforts in artificial intelligence and cognitive computing.
Along with his lifelong fascination with natural language processing and machine learning, Bob also has worked on gene sequence alignment, efforts to drive ad traffic, and a project to bring massive offline data caches to rural Africa. He has supplemented his corporate experience with work in hospitals, startups, and non-profits.
Bob holds Bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Linguistics, along with a Master’s and Ph.D in Computer Science from the University of Iowa. He has studied seven languages including Sanskrit, makes his own furniture, and is a freelance author in his spare time.
