Who has more military power, China or India?

China and India have the two largest populations of any country in the world. Today’s graphic is a comparison chart of their military power. Broken down by army, navy, air force, strategic forces and reserve size, see how these two giant countries manage their armed forces.

At the bottom of the graphic is a chart of their military expenditures. Up until the year 2000, both countries had very comparable military spending patterns. However, over the last 12 years, while India’s spending has remained relatively constant, China’s has increased dramatically and is now over three times as large.

Infographic breaks down China's military vs India's military power by the numbers, including military expenditures, active personnel, vehicles, weapons and equipment.
