The Pride at Work Network at Thomson Reuters

At Thomson Reuters, we foster an inclusive workplace where each employee is valued as an individual and has the opportunity to reach full potential.

We also know that merely having a diverse workforce is not enough. We also need to actively build a culture of inclusion that leverages the strengths of all of our employees. From new hire orientation to management and leadership training to an online portal accessible to all employees, we focus on developing global mindsets, breaking unconscious bias and demonstrating the business case for diversity across the organization.

As part of our series showcasing our Business Resource Groups (BRGs), we wanted to spotlight our Pride at Work Business Resource Group, one of the key ways we support our LGBTQ+ employees.

The Pride at Work BRG aims to create a safe and inclusive workplace, remaining aligned with Thomson Reuters business objectives, those of our customers and external partners and the wider community of LGBTQ+ individuals as well as our friends and allies. The Pride at Work BRG is host to projects such as On Side with Pride, through which allies can declare their support for their LGBTQ+ coworkers and offer encouragement to those working in regions where living with a different sexual orientation or gender identity is dangerous or even illegal. The Pride at Work group also sponsors and gets involved with events all around the world, such as the annual Pride in London festival. (You can view photos of employees celebrating Pride month all around the world here).

We’ve been rewarded for our efforts in more ways than one. For the sixth consecutive year, we’ve been voted one of the top 100 places to work for LGBTQ+ Equality. Our commitment to highlighting the diversity of our employees, and specifically our LGBTQ+ employees, also increases diversity of thought and perspective, which propels innovation and provides understanding. And because we understand and celebrate the uniqueness of our own employees, we are also better able understand the diverse needs of our global clients. In this way, our success as an organization hinges upon our employees bringing their whole selves to work.
