Virtual reality at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Thomson Reuters made its virtual reality debut at the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos this past January, and over the weekend, we showcased our second VR experience at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner. For the past few months, a small and passionate team came together to create a brand new 360, 3D, stereoscopic video for the prestigious event.

Our video included a tour of four scenes that Reuters Jim Bourg filmed at the White House, including a press briefing, the Oval Office, President Obama’s dogs playing in the rose garden, and Obama’s Marine 1 departure. Accompanying the video is an interview of Jeff Mason, Reuters Correspondent and VP of the White House Correspondents’ Association.

By all accounts, the VR experience was a massive success. Hundreds of people tried it out over the course of the evening, from celebrities and super models to tech titans, executives and investors. Here are a couple of my favorite tweets:
