David Akellian is currently Managing Director, Wealth Management for Thomson Reuters. In this role, David leads the Thomson Reuters North American Wealth Management business, which delivers a complete suite of integrated front office and back office technology solutions to leading wealth management firms to manage their daily brokerage operations and complex regulatory and compliance requirements.
David has over thirty years experience in the financial services industry and has been the senior executive leading a number of businesses. He joins Thomson Reuters from LPL Financial, where he was most recently executive vice president and head of Platform Solutions.
At LPL, David led a team responsible for implementing platform strategies to drive growth for all LPL Client channels, including ideation, market assessment, financial viability evaluation, technology development, internal preparedness, and market introduction. He led overall prioritization for all Wealth Management, Advisor and Investor client capabilities. Prior to this role, David was head of Custom Clearing Services, one of LPL Financial’s three primary customer groups.
Previously, David was chairman and CEO of Century Securities Associates, a subsidiary of Stifel Financial where he was responsible for determining and implementing a new business strategy. He assessed both organic and inorganic strategies to realign business to enter and grow Registered Investment Advisor and Hybrid business and provided strategic and tactical guidance to improve and redesign Stifel Nicolaus wealth management and advisory platforms.
Prior to this role, David was President and Head of Global Clearing Service at Merrill Lynch. In this role, he managed a global team which delivered significant growth and financial results. The client base was approximately 1,800 financial service organizations, with customer assets of around $200 billion, averaging over 3 million securities transactions daily.
David started his career with the Pershing division of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette and held a number of roles including COO and Head of DLJ Investment Manager Services (now called Pershing Advisor Solutions), which provided wealth management, advisory services, custody, trade execution, prime brokerage and investment financing to Registered Investment Advisors, Hedge Funds and Family Offices. He was also COO of Pershing Limited (LONDON) and established Pershing Limited.
