Early 2017 saw Thomson Reuters draw on its IFR, IFR Asia and PFI brands to gather more than 2,000 of the world’s most senior and successful finance professionals at Awards events in Europe, Asia and the US.
The auction – hosted by Jonny Gould and overseen by HRH The Princess Royal in her capacity as Patron of Save the Children – sees banks compete against each other to lead the tombstone by pledging the most money. This year’s bookrunner was Citigroup with a donation of £525,000.
And it was Citigroup that took the top honour on the night too, with Jamie Forese, President of Citigroup and CEO of the Institutional Clients Group, picking up the coveted Bank of the Year trophy.
You can access the IFR Roll of Honour to see a full list of which banks and companies picked up awards on the night, read detailed write-ups of each and every award in the IFR Review of the Year and view photos from the night through the IFR Awards website.
IFR also held a smaller event in Times Square, New York to honour capital markets achievement in the Americas. The event, now in its 5th year, brought together over 100 guests to toast a year of success and saw Dell’s US$38bn M&A financing win Financing Package of the Year and Argentina win the Issuer of the Year award.
And the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong saw 300 of Asia’s most successful capital markets professionals come together for the 20th IFR Asia Awards Awards Dinner.
The event saw Bank of China win Asian Bank of the Year and Dieter Turowski collect the prestigious Bank of the Year trophy on behalf of Morgan Stanley.
IFR’s sister publication, Project Finance International held its annual Awards Dinner on February 1 2017, and gathered more than 800 project finance professionals at the Hilton, Park Lane, London. Hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan, the event saw MUFG win Global Bank of the Year.
Thomson Reuters would like to thank the financial community for its fantastic generosity and congratulates the award winners and all those who contributed to making these prestigious events such memorable occasions.
