When an opportunity presents itself to leave your desk for the beach – especially if it is located right in the heart of the City of London – it will be difficult to turn down!
Thomson Reuters joined up with City Sports Management to sponsor London Beach Rugby 2016. The event at Finsbury Square on the 29th and 30th of July was competitive yet friendly atmosphere, with almost 50 teams battling it out on the sand.
Watch the highlights:
What’s the cause?
In the interest of establishing a longer term partnership, we have embarked on a 3 year journey to sponsor the event and support a great cause in giving proceeds of the event to London’s Air Ambulance (LAA), the official charity.
Proceeds went to Thomson Reuters’s UK and Ireland Legal Division’s official charity London’s Air Ambulance (LAA). With such a wonderful cause, abandoning the office and spurring the teams on is certainly worthwhile!
The first day of action (Friday 29th of July) saw Thomson Reuters’s two entrants teams lead the City in competing for the prestigious Corporate Cup.
Other teams taking part include, reigning champions CoreLaw, Lloyds, Macquarie, RBS, BNP Paribas, Freshfields, EY, St James Place Wealth Management and many more.
The second day (Saturday 30th July) saw some of the country’s best amateur teams take to the beach for ‘Super Saturday’.
It’s all about team spirit and collaboration
Thomson Reuters’s President of Financial and Risk David Craig shared his excitement:
“Rugby is a game that I’m extremely passionate about as it’s a sport that truly epitomizes team spirit and collaboration, something that we actively promote and encourage at Thomson Reuters. This is an exciting event that fuses amateur rugby successfully with major corporate firms, helping to generate vital funds and raise awareness of an incredibly important cause in London’s Air Ambulance.”
The beach is calling you!
