Amanda Smith

Amanda Smith is a senior consultant at the Open Data Institute, experienced in the development and implementation of data and innovation strategy, managing programmes and projects, developing products and policy and delivering culture and organisational change. Her experience spans across multiple sectors for the public and private sector, and she leads the ODI’s work with ARUP, Deutsche Bank, Digital Catapult, European Commission, Experian, Met Office, Syngenta, Thomson Reuters and World Bank.  She is an accredited trainer and facilitator, specialising in open innovation and community engagement.

Previously Amanda was the ODI’s Community Engagement Manager. Joining in November 2013, Amanda successfully delivered the European Commission funded DaPaaS and OpenDataMonitor projects. She has created open data communities in London, Oslo and Sofia. In 2015, Amanda was the first winner of the Bloomberg Open Technology WISE award, presented to her by HRH Princess Royal.

Amanda is a criminologist and before joining the ODI she worked in policing and government, delivering Prime Ministerial commitments to release open crime and justice data. She proudly developed the world’s first open crime and justice data platforms: police.uk and data.police.uk.
